Quick Troubleshooting

No judgment — these catch everyone at least once.

I imported the profile but nothing happened

The most common one — your download is a .zip file that needs to be extracted first. Right-click the file, choose Extract All (Windows) or double-click it (Mac), then look for the .streamDeckProfile file inside. Double-click that to import it.

Icons are missing or the layout looks wrong

Some profiles come with separate Windows and Mac versions. Double-check you downloaded the right one for your system. Also make sure you’re importing the profile for the correct Stream Deck model — each one (Mini, MK2, Plus, XL, etc.) has its own layout.

Buttons aren’t doing anything

Stream Deck works by sending keyboard shortcuts to your target app — so that app needs to be open and in focus on your screen. If the app is running but minimised or behind another window, the shortcuts won’t reach it.

A button does something unexpected

Many creative apps use context-sensitive shortcuts — the same key combination does different things depending on where you are in the program. For example, a shortcut might behave differently in the timeline vs the media pool, or on the canvas vs in a menu. Check that you’re in the right workspace, panel, or mode for the action you’re trying to trigger.

It used to work, but now it doesn’t

Profiles are built on the latest version of the Stream Deck software available at the time. If something stops working after an update (or starts acting odd), check for a Stream Deck software update — Settings → General → Check for Updates. A quick restart of the app can also clear up the occasional blank icon or unresponsive action.
